A recent investigation into the dialogue act (DA) patterns between Grade 9 Chinese students learning English and a GenAI voice chatbot sheds light on this.

Over a 10-week trial, 12 students engaged in a total of seventy sessions with the chatbot. Human coders meticulously annotated these interactions, producing 6,957 coded dialogue acts.
