They've created a corpus of 136 single-patient case reports involving glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists, commonly used in diabetes treatment. These reports include valuable information about how and when clinical events happen.
Here's the gist: They used large language models (LLMs) to extract timelines from these reports. Essentially, they wanted to see if AI could accurately identify and sequence symptoms, treatments, and outcomes. The best performer, GPT5, nailed it with high event coverage (0.871) and temporal sequencing accuracy (0.843).

In a test run, the researchers found that users of GLP-1 had a lower risk of respiratory issues compared to non-users, with a hazard ratio of 0.259. This supports previous findings that these drugs can improve respiratory outcomes. Now that's something to watch!
